Not necessarily, if the cost is right they can work out nicely at home. I got one last fall for 200$CND shipped with a 2609V3 and 8gb of ram and it has worked out quite nicely at home though a bit louder than i would like I could not beat the price for what i got and the ILO is still usable. For the right price i would buy one again without question

Just out of curiosity, is the HP hardware in Gen9 and upcoming Gen10 still locked down with regards to 3party disks/memory? I remember seeing boot warnings if non-HP firmware disks and memory were installed, as well as reduced memory speeds.
The DL180 G9 is neat for home use at 2U factor, assuming prices plummet in upcoming months to clear inventory for Gen10 parts.
200CAD for one of these even in min config is definitely a great deal.

The DL60 Gen9 took an Intel S3700 that was not HPE branded, but it does warn you about that fact.
