For products purchased after December 1, 2014, the warranty extends only for as long as the original end user owns the product. Includes coverage of any built-in fans and power supplies for the entire warranty period. You may be required to provide proof of purchase or lease as a condition of receiving warranty service. For Australian and New Zealand consumers, this does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and New Zealand consumer laws.

Edit: Also, I would imagine that they would track the switches and who they are registered to. Questions may be asked if the warranty request is under a different name than the original.

Well, I only have 2 ProCurve switches and they predate the policy change. Both are well over 5 years old and are still working so...
