Something is strange about this drive. HP doesn't have any specification of this drive existing anywhere. Search result for the HP part number returns HP 3PAR storeserv guide, and in that documentation these drives are marked as 6gbps. According to part number info on hgst website, these are apparently 12gbps drives.

Thank you for posting- is exactly what I have been looking for at a very reasonable price (IMO). Suddenly, there are only 2 left. :)

You're welcome, and they've all gone now.

Like patchate said, there's no info on this from HP, so would be interesting to know if they do 12gbps, i won't know as i only have a p410i

Thanks OP, I was able to grab 2.

patchate, the part number for these is HUSMM8040ASS200. These are 400GB SAS SAS3 drives with 18.3PB of rated endurance.

Given the bump in speed from SAS2 to SAS3 this deal may equal whitey's epic 400GB SAS2 that briefly sold for $100 until the seller spit out his coffee at the number of orders and quickly started raising his prices!

Great deal! Kicking myself for missing it...

Seller didn't know what he had it seems. They have used HUSML4040ASS600 listed for $175 and sold this cheaper.

Did everyone else get what they ordered?

I ordered 2 of these and was planning on putting them in raid 1...
However I've just received them (took a long time as it had to come to the UK).
I actually received:
1 x 400 gb HUSMM8040ASS204
1 x 920 gb HUSMR1610ASS204
Annoying!

haha, i am genuinely annoyed, honest :) I think I would have preferred what i ordered. As it is going to be very difficult to find either on ebay to pair them for raid. Also the 920 gb model is a read-intensive ssd. 920 gb sounds great but not when it's 4 times less reliable...

Over provision the 920gb.

Hey, just so i finally get these model numbers right, is this drive that is in the OP :

1) the HGST HUSMM8040ASS200 (but just an HP OEM)
2) The newer version of the HUSML4040ASS600

ie the same HUSML4040ASS600 from this auction: HGST HITACHI Ultrastar SSD400M 400GB SAS 6GB SSD 2.5" HUSML4040ASS600
which we were all drooling over last week @ ~125$ and nearly bought up 40 of them from users of this forum alone.

PDF data sheet of the HUSMM8040ASS200 (if that is what this ebay listing is for):
https://www.hgst.com/sites/default/files/resources/US_SSD800MM_ds.pdf

PDF data sheet of (my new fav ssd) the HUSML4040ASS600 (if that is what this ebay listing is for):
https://www.hgst.com/sites/default/files/resources/USSSD400M_DS.pdf

If i have the model numbers correct, the main difference in these drives is:
-SAS3 vs SAS2
-Faster IOPs and Faster Sequential
-Same Write endurance (7.3PB @ 400gb size for both)
Is the fact that its a HP OEM drive vs a original HGST HUSMM8040ASS200 really that big of a deal? I know from experiences ive had personally with HDDs (not ssds tho) , I once had 8 x 3TB IBM OEM's of a HGST HDD that wouldn't work properly with a 5 series adaptec RAID card whereas when i swapped them for 8x of real HGST of the exact same model, I had no issues on the adaptec. (according to either HGST or Adpatec phone support, i forget, that IBM oem had a different, custom firmware)

Thanks!
