This is a great deal for being in Europe..I just bought two 100GB .B from US and paid a little more each after customs fees/taxes/whatever. Ugh.

Note that these have an EMC product number on the tag so they probably came from a storage array. They may have some more use because of that. Still, shouldnt really matter considering 18PB endurance..

Received my disks this week. Has anyone else been able to test theirs yet? Out of the four I got two report a SMART warning. Some output:

Code:
== START OF INFORMATION SECTION ===
Vendor: HITACHI

SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability.
SMART support is: Enabled
Temperature Warning: Disabled or Not Supported

=== START OF READ SMART DATA SECTION ===
SMART Health Status: WARNING: ascq=0x10 [asc=b, ascq=10]

Percentage used endurance indicator: 1%
Current Drive Temperature: 25 C
Drive Trip Temperature: 85 C
Is anyone familiar with that particular ascq code? I've been unable to find anything useful about what it means. Also as a side note, on the two drives that have this error it says 'blocks sent to initiator = 0' in cache info. The normally working ones have a higher there.

Otherwise the drives have very little writes considering what they are. The highest is a paltry 29TB or so. These seem to have come from some VNX and required also a format from 520 byte blocks to 512..

Thanks, good find. Doesn't sound too bad then. I guess some of the others buyers may have the same issue. Wonder if it is possible to somehow reset that warning? I've only had them behind a LSI 2308 (IT mode only) so not sure what a RAID controller would think about this..

I put the RAID card into HBA mode before loading CentOS.

I'm not familiar with Dell controllers only HPE.
