Hi,

I am currently in process of building a server.
SPECS:
- Supermicro x10sl7-f (lsi 2308 flashed to IT mode)
- Intel Intel Xeon E3-1230V3 Haswell 3.3GHz LGA 1150 80W Quad-Core Server Processor
- 32 GB of Kingston ValueRAM 16GB Kit (2x8GB Modules) 1333MHz DDR3 PC3-10666 ECC CL9 DIMM Intel Certified Server Memory KVR13E9K2/16
- Samsung 840 Series 2.5 inch 120GB SATA III internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
- Fractal Design Newton R3 600-Watt 80 PLUS Platinum Certified Modular ATX12V/EPS12V 600 Power Supply FD-PSU-NT3B-600W

I boot bios fine and the cpu, memory and hard drive are recognized.

When i try to install centos 6.4, i get a kernel panic.

please see picture of panic...

I cannot boot into the usb stick normally. I have to use the uefi mode to get into the centos installer.

Has anyone encountered this?

I tried rebuilt the usb boot stick multiple times to ensure that the image was not corrupted.

Thanks!

I don't know whether the 2.6 kernel supports Haswell. Try a live cd with a newer kernel. Ubuntu 12.04.2 has a 3.5 kernel and see if it works, it will confirm or rule this out very quickly.

I tried with FreeNAS 9.1 and it booted into freenas fine.

I tried using a ubuntu live cd but boot into the installer. Tried both regular and uefi.
