Just another update... with wierdness..

Got Windows 10 installed to the 4tb replacement drive I insta-bought, and it works fine. Even accessing the original 1tb drive with the original Windows 10 install is fine - all the data is intact, it copies at normal speed. There seems to be NOTHING wrong with it from the new install... which means Windows 10 did something to itself.

Just because i'm darned curious any suggestions on how to diagnose what mighta happened to the original install when there were no big updates I was aware of, no downloaded malware I can tell (passes scans from the outside), and nothing changed from within Windows 10... i'd like to know what happened to hopefully prevent it from happening again. Since it's not a failing hard drive and not a failing hard drive controller on the mobo, it can only be software by definition.
