HDD or SSD in Supermicro

I was looking at getting a Supermicro MicroCloud, I was wondering if you have to stick with the drives that are on Supermicro‘s tested page or if you can use other drives that are of the same type?

From my experience supermicro stuff is not vendor locked.

There were some posts in this forum about the xeon-d mainboards where people reported issues with certains m.2 ssds. Can't remeber what brands they were.
