I was looking at quanta switches and somehow wandered into server (it happens)

Here is one that caught my eye:
Server Xeon E5 2620 Multi Processor and 256 GB RAM Capable Supermicro MBD X9 | eBay

Motherboard MBD-X9DRL-3F-O
Heatsink SNK-P0040AP4
Power Supply ST60F-P
1*Intel Xeon Processor e5-2620 (6 cores, 12 threads)
Memory 2*16 GB M393B2G70BH0-CK0
Mid Sized ATX Case with 12 total drive bays
1* Crucial M4 SSD (6 Gbps 128 GB)
1* 2 TB SATA

Currently for $999 OBO. Seems like he is certainly accepting best offers.
If you are in need of additional drives I have a few 1 TB SATA that I am willing to include dependent on your offer.
The RAM, CPU and motherboard would be worth between $900 and $1000 alone making the rest freebies including the Crucial M4 and 2x2TB SATA drives.

It's a low speed hex core but if you could find some cheap ES chips to pop in, that would be absolutely killer. Only bad thing is you'd need to find more RAM. I dunno why you would build a system like that with only 2 DIMMs populated? Looks like the seller went the most expensive route possible for that.

I think his estimate of $1,600 feels a bit high to me. Nice system though. If that is truly a mid-tower you could stick it at Joe's Datacenter for $40/ month with 10TB of transfer very easily.
