Long story short - wanted to indulge myself in different hardware to tackle my curiosity, most of them came from eBay auctions last year. Some will stay in my basement but majority have to go :)
Disclaimer:
  • After the CPU in brackets is the CPUbenchmark.net score for one CPU, every server has dual CPUs unless noted otherwise.
  • LFF - large form factor = 3,5" disks
  • SFF - small form factor = 2,5" disks
  • without rails
  • without HDD caddies unless noted otherwise or comes together with HDDs in a server
  • we can change the specification - swap CPUs, add RAM
  • IPMI not tested, which servers have full functionality, but Dell has iDRAC Enterprise
  • Cisco servers are partially compatible with SuperMicro caddies - they can be connected but you can`t lock SM caddies in Cisco server
  • I was surprised about Cisco servers quality, but the greatest disappointment were HP default configuration - you have to order additionally some parts which are default on other brand name servers, for example additional PCI-E risers and comically, you have high density chassis with 12 LFF, but you get backplane with only 4 LFF connectors...
  • DDR3 servers are great when you need a lot of RAM as the price for DDR3 is lower than DDR4
  • 7 day moneyback guarantee in case something is not working upon arrival
  • Prices negotiable
  • SEPA transfer preferable
  • Shipping a server (20-25kg) to EU would be approximately 35 eur

* Added 24LFF server in 2U form factor - HP APOLLO 4200 G9 with 2x 25 Gbit/s SFP8 ports, without transceivers. Without HDD caddies but tested inserting HDDs without them - so far the smoothest and safest insertion of HDDs compared to all the other servers without caddies
* Pricedrop for DDR3 servers and CPUs

Pricedrop across the board, some servers sold!
Will accept reasonable offers, especially for DDR3 servers and RAM. Have some limited quantity of SFF 600GB and 900GB 10k RPM disks to go with SFF servers as well, if needed.

Pricedrop across the board. Calculated that shipping to, for example, Germany, would be about 35 eur for a server weighing 20-25 kg

I can say it is too big of an ask for cpus/ram. Didnt really check ssds recently and shelves, but for <80% life are not very popular, i would say too big ask still. If you want them to go fast, drop more.

of all that I would take both Xeon E5-2698v3 (18915) for 50,- (with shipping incl.) If good for you - send a pm

Thank you for the feedback, appreciated! I generally offer generous discounts on combo deals (server plus upgrades) or volume buys but not as much on individual items. I will later look up and adjust the prices accordingly!
I paid 170 eur for a pair 2698 v3 last year. The prices have fallen considerably, the cheapest I could find right now is 58 eur for a pair at aliexpress.
If you will donate at least 8 eur to Armed Forces of Ukraine or similar help for Ukraine, then we have a deal!
Few examples: Stream a small monthly donation to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine finish the war sooner , UNITED24 - The initiative of the President of Ukraine , Donate to Ukraine Army - Come Back Alive Foundation
Disclaimer: at least half of the proceeds from selling my stuff will be redirected to Ukraines needs.

Do you happen to have:
- an SFP+ (10Gbps) to RJ45 module (that you might not have listed here)?
- M393B2G70DB0-YK0 (or similar) DDR3 memory modules (if yes, I'd take 8 of them to fully populate one of the servers)
- any DDR3 -LR sticks? According to the HPE DL380pG8 (link 1) you can fill all 24 slots with 32GB sticks only with -LR modules (not just -R)? (I don't know enough about this to make an educated decision). I would assume that the 32GB DDR3 sticks you listed (PC3L-10600R) would work just fine, but it doesn't hurt to ask...

They will work, but not in all 3 slots per channel as 'Each memory channel can not support more than two Unbuffered or two quad-rank modules' (so only 2x of these 32GB modules). 'Each memory channel can, however, three quad-rank LRDIMM be used' which is why LRDIMMs allow it to max out to 768GB of ram:

Bought RAM, SSDs & HDDs. Seller supplied new test results. The goods were well packaged and shipped right after testing was done.
Seller recommended!

Ayo - I bought some memory from this thread and forgot to post the reply :/
Got the memory, nicely packaged, the box had a small tear on one side, but this is not the seller's issue, it must've been kicked around in shipping. All memory works just fine for some time now. The seller went out of his way to test if my specific memory configuration would work (mix and match with 32GB LoadReduced and 16GB Registered sticks). Good experience +1

Interesting that you're running both RDIMMs and LRDIMMs in the same machine--how did you do the banking/channels in your setup?

There has been some confusion on aljaxus part as I delivered regular RDIMMs to him (I don`t have LRDIMMs). I guess it was caused by PC3L (low voltage) denomination :)
You were completely right, as per documentation - each memory channel can not support more than two quad-rank modules, even BIOS throws an error when 3 quad rank modules are installed (- Only 2 DIMMs can be installed on a channel containing Quad-Rank DIMM(s))
Then I tested with my Triple-Rank 24GB modules, but HPE DL380p Gen8 does not support them.
Then I inserted 3x16GB in channels 2-4 and 2x32GB in channel 1 (for each CPU), totaling 416GB in a server and this configuration works, I ran Memtest86+ on this configuration.

We went with this unusual configuration because aljaxus already had RDIMMs and wanted to increase his RAM size with additional RAM to save on costs. The mix-and match part was 2R 16GB RAM with 4R 32GB RAM. I sold him 4x 32GB + 2x 16GB so he could fill empty RAM slots.

Ah right - nevermind... passed some time and I forgot (and didn't bother to check, my bad). As Dzy said - now running (per socket) 1 channel with 2x 32GB sticks (one slot empty), 3 channels with 3x 16GB sticks (all slots in channel used). Leaving me with 2 slots that can not be used (but still, 32GB more if I were to fill those two channels with 16GB sticks).

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. Understandable about the PC3L-xxxxxR vs PC3L-xxxxxL--that was confusing to me too the first time I heard about LRDIMMs. :) Neat to know that even kinda crazy rank mixing seems to work fine. :)

All good! If you have an 8 rank limitation though, you won't be able to add those 16GB modules. My Dell R710 has a similar limit so I can either use 18x16GB=288GB modules or 12x32GB=384GB. I never thought about a mixed config though.

Updates across the board, including 12LFF servers, RAM, SAS/SATA RAID/HBA cards to go with servers, NICs and PSUs.
All of the RAM have been tested in Memtest86+ for at least 24 hours

Bought 3 servers and everything arrives extremely well packaged! Everyone is happy except for significant other about the livingroom turning into a DC for a bit ;)
