These go for a lot more than that on Ebay. These are fast, low latency with PLP drives used for cache.

for 1650$ there is too many alternative choices that deliver higher, bigger, better solution.

I beg to differ Zanka, while there may be 'good enough' alternatives damn near nothing touches this drive in its heyday and it still kicks butts and takes names, used to have one, another member now enjoys it in another re-incarnation but yeah for certain use-cases (already well documented on this site...can't stand to make my fingers bleed and re-live a groundhog day right now) these do NOT mess around.

Now I will say this, IMHO this is priced a bit high (not too bad) but a few hundred off for used gear. Not slighting anyone here, fair to ask for what you think it is worth, market supply/demand will dictate what will be paid. Saw these going for right about a grand a few months back although they do seem to hover $1200-1500.

Not to hijack but what viable alternatives are there to this for slog on for example an sc216 with an 8x3 zfs raidz striped setup?
I saw a hack to use a 500MB raid card cache but I haven't seen a lot on the market that can replace this piece of kit in a zfs config where you are trying for high bandwidth low latency.
