This system has served me well as a spare render machine for 3D/VFX projects, and lately it's being used less and less. It's been sitting mostly idle for the last 10 months. Asking for $800, buyer pays shipping.

My build was well documented on this forum:
Intel s2600cp Dual Xeon 2670 3D / VFX Rendering Node

It served as the inspiration for the Natex.us workstation (they sell it for $1200):
Workstation with Intel S2600CP2J, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case

  • EVGA 110-B2-0750-VR 80 PLUS Bronze 750W

I'm actually downsizing. Since we moved, my studio space is rather tiny and I no longer need this beast sitting around. Also, I'm working more and more onsite and no longer produce as much from my studio.

The suggestion to upgrade to v2 is a great idea, though!

Check out these benchmarks:

i9-7960X: UserBenchmark: Intel Core i9-7960X BX80673I97960X
1950X: UserBenchmark: AMD Ryzen TR 1950X YD195XA8AEWOF

now check this out:
dual 2690 v2: Lenovo 4354D3U Performance Results - UserBenchmark (my personal test)

compared to
dual 2670 v1: User System Performance Results - UserBenchmark (my personal test)

dual 2670 is still not bad. dual 2690 v2 is not far away at all from the latest TR and i9. you should be able to get dual 2690 v2 for less than $400....

I gotta be honest, soon as I read your comment with an upgrade I hit up google/eBay to see what I could dig up. You present a very tempting plan to upgrade.

My biggest concern these days is single core performance, and maybe efficiency. As you may know, After Effects has had multi-processing disabled for a few years, and I'd like speed up my workflow since I know the current proc can handle rendering with ease, via rendering manager.

As an alternate, I found a 2667v2 which is similar in passmark score to the 2690 v2. Higher clocks, less cores.

Got you covered there too..lol

Here's my personal bench for dual 2667 v2: Lenovo 43532G7 Performance Results - UserBenchmark. It just feels like you are giving up a lot more multicore performance for the gain in single and quad. But then again if faster clock is needed then 2667 v2 is the answer

The other thing to consider is that 2667 v2 does not go on sale for good price as often. I just did a spot check right now and there are several 2690 v2 going for less than $200/cpu and 2667 v2 are over $200....

I got lucky and scored my pair of 2667 for $385 but that doesn't happen often though..... but in general 2690 v2 is on sale more often....

Whoa, you're rocking both the 2690 & 2667?

I will keep my eyes open for a potential upgrade. Thanks for the suggestion!
