Yeah, I'm hoping I can get my ConnetX2 VPI setup for 40Gig IB & the 2nd port for 10GigE so I don't have to use 2 slots for NICs.

Which board is this?

It's missing a heatsink over the Intel NIC chipset.

I think at the time it was made to house a lot of flash PCIE devices :D

It might also be very good for bitcoin miners, all the PCIe slots would allow for many GPUs
The PDU in this case has a large # of "PCIE" power adapters, I would take a guess you're right, it could work for that too :) Seeing as they're 920w PSU with only 8 drive bays :D

If you look at Supermicro's page for the board, there is not even a heatsink on the NIC there, so I don't think it really is missing as much as omitted by design.

Looking at eBay, it seems like many dual port NICs based on the i350AM2 are not fitted with heatsinks, so I wouldn't worry too much unless you have issues.

Doh, good point @RTM had just assumed it was missing after @neo mentioned it,and I looked at the pic!

If room I'll probably throw on some copper-stick-on heat sinks, I have a few dozen and they sure help keep things down a notch and thee NICS are def always one of the "hot spots" heh!!!

@neo I even have the air shroud and original case for this board, so it will be run in "how it's supposed to" mode ;) LOL!!
