Hi Everyone. Lookin for help in such situation:

I heve OI installed (2020) with Qlogic FC card (target mode). qlt 2523. Works fine.

1. i tried to upgrade OI but during update, and during start I see nvidia_modeset unload .. and upgrade fails.

2. I decided to instal OI 2023 (same server/hardware) ... and after many tries - FC card word default i qlc (initiator) mode, ane after setting to TARGET mode (update_drv -a -i 'pciex1077,2532' qlt) is still offline. Cant bring it online. I see that (i thik) in target mode firmware/driver is not being loaded (hba -conf shows Firmware 0.0.0.0 when in older Oi shows 5,.2.1).

Anyone had this problem? Thanks in advance for help.

I think the firmware error 0.0.0.0 is because the qlt driver has not loaded correctly in target mode. Please check the alias and system log to see idd there are any errors. I guess you have solved it.

You might see PCI initialization errors or driver misbinding. If the card fails to initialize properly, it could be a kernel compatibility issue with newer OI.

If FC target mode is broken in 2023 OI and you can’t wait for a fix:
Consider setting up COMSTAR using iSCSI target rather than FC, if that fits your use case. It’s well-supported and more actively maintained in modern OI builds.
