Interestingly another eBay seller selling the same chip confirms compatibility with AsRock X99 motherboards and some standard C612 mobos. If so this chip is truly a little freak.
OK i see, its the japan one.
if you have luck u get one without scratches on the gold side (but they work)

i got one with and one without.
less power than the 2699 is because only 120w TDP and cutted turbo bin's on ES xeons.
(except the 2630Lv4 ES - this has same stepping and turbo than the retail)

Any update on VT-d on this ES E5-2630L ? If it works i would love to grab one to my new node in homelab.
Any tools(cpu-z,HWinfo...) shows it ON, but i can not check it with EXSi or something else.
IMHO VT-d ist a function of chipset and BIOS, the CPU must only have VT.

Any easy way to check it ?

So far my ultra-cheap V4 ES is working. It has Vt-D and it is working. I passed through, and am using Perc310/LSI HBA just fine, also passed thruiogh intel 10G nic but that has issues w/esxi (common). For <$130 for 12 cores I'm not complaining.

I was thinking of getting this E5-2680 v4 ( Intel Xeon Processor E5-2680 v4 Broadwell-EP CPU 2.2GHz 14-Core 35M 120W QHV7 ES )
It is stepping L0 /QHV7 - so not the first test sample.
A previous post mentioned to look at CPU-World, but I cant seem to figure out how to find info on that specefic stepping.
Any thoughts on this sample?
CPU-world does not seem to have much info when it comes to V4 ES
Many of ther E5-26xx V4 ES are L0. I too would like to know how good or bad they are.

QH is older, QK is retailish
OK thanks - so I guess the risk is a bit high.
The seller has tested it in the SuperMicro Board I'm going to use, and gives a 30 day money back guarantee, so I'm going to give it a try.
I will report back.

As far as I know... those are the only 2 broadwell steppings....
And QH is A0 ... or L0 or ... L0 is the Mcc models of A0... B0 would be M0 ... etc.

I apologize for the dumb question - what is an Mcc model (google did not help me).
And is it likely to work? :)

So with sandy through haswell... there was 3 seperate dies Hcc high core count, medium and low. You can Identify by the bottom transistor layout... if you are crazy like me...
Likewise they had 3 different stepping letters what were equivalent.
A-C was on the HCC, Medium got L/M and Low got R...
iirc for broadwell we have A0=L0, B0=M0
only Hcc and Mcc U layout is Hcc, L is Mcc.

So my E5-2680v4 Engeneering Sample arived.
It has been running AIDA64 stress test stable for the last 5 hours.

Any suggestion as what to run to test if there are any bugs in the CPU?

Hwinfo and look under cpu.
Compare the instruction sets with the production ones on intel's Web site.

E5-2609 v3 is Stepping M1 but 6 cores is LCC.
Or has Intel used a MCC chip with deaktivated cores ?

Hows it going, still stable? Thinking of buying one myself but not sure how to ensure it's stable. Is there some set of benchmarks that test almost everything that the CPU can do?
