if u can compile fortran code and link with BLAS and FFTW (both available in mkl) download this:

Firefox Send

(1 download allowed)
there is an info file for a simple setup. time it externally. if it takes more that 30 minutes to finish, kill it.

post the elapsed time from start to finish here.

I dont have a programming background so I wouldn't be able to compile this. Can you send a compiled EXE?

i am on linux and i do not have the latest intel compiler that takes advantage of avx512 (same with mkl). so we are stuck. anyway thank you for willing to have a go.

i have not been around this forum long; how much did all these cost?

@traderjay Are you sure that you've filled all memory channels as your results for the Xeon Platinum even lower than my results for the single 2696 v4?

GeekBench results
Single Intel Xeon Platinum P-8136 - 4243 single / 32783 multi (Win10, Supermicro Super Server)
Single Intel Xeon E5-2696 v4 - 4284 single / 48102 multi (Win10, Dell 5810 workstation)

Dell Inc. Precision Tower 5810 - Geekbench Browser

Sorry forgot to mention that the XEON platinum is not running @ six memory channels as I am waiting for the 2 sticks of RAM to arrive. Its running 4 x 8 GB configuration.

That is the sort of build I would do if I wasn't a poor third country guy. I seriously hate expensive gaming builds, but with enterprise grade gear that can actually scale? Count me in. It does takes far more knowledge, but I think that this is the new pure blood enthusiast niche.

Is it hard getting the Platinum Xeons to run on the X11 boards. I thought I saw somewhere it can be tricky getting ES/QS chips to run in dual but maybe i am wrong or not remembering right. I'm looking at ES/QS for my next workstation. Also are you air cooling the Platinum? And if so what cooler?

Not hard at all, my CPUs are not ES/QS but custom XEONS for datacenter. All it needs is a custom bios with the microcode inserted and it works just like a regular DIY build.

Hey traderjay, still rocking those 2696v4's, I see.

Dual 2696 v3, 256GB DDR4 with 4GHz all-core turbo (105 BCLK). Sustains about 3.65GHz under 100% load. Load jumps from ~160W to over 800W in some conditions. Watercooling is a must.

ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. Z10PE-D8 WS - Geekbench Browser

Single: 4156 / Multi: 50401

I should also note this is 16 cores per CPU enabled.

Someone let me know if they care to see a stock run for an apples-to-apples of dual 2696 v3 to dual 2696 v4.

Hi, I got a p8136 and I want to use it for a build. Please can you indicate the supermicro motherboard you used and how to build the modded bios? Thanks Fmau

To get Intel ES chips to work on supermicro X11 boards, you need to source a v2.1 version of the bios. V3.x and above lack support for the ES chips.

I run the Noctua heatsinks on my QL1K and it runs quite silently

Really I have an OEM CPU (not ES or QS): p8136 reference SR2YN. Anyone has tested with X11 boards ? What Bios ? Thanks
