I have an HP DL380 G9 with the SmartArray p840 and HP 12g SAS expander. I'm contemplating adding another 12 bay 3.5" storage enclosure but I'm not 100% clear on exactly how this would work. Will the new enclosure need 4x connections back to the expander or just one? What are the odds a Dell or other enclosure would play nice with the HP SmartArray?
