I might be able to pick up a Edge-Core Wedge-16X 16 port 40GbE QSFP Switch but don't know their vaule. Does anyone have any knowledge about them or any advice?

Looking for getting it for around 1-5k. Feedback?

Thanks!

Correct, just didn't know if anyone had any first hand experience or knew a good buy/sell price.

$1k would seem like a good price used but you would want to know about software updates (openly available) and also think about psu/fan failure what happens ?? (Some switches there are more readily available replacements for a community support for work around)

I think the switch is part of the Open Compute Project, so there might be some parts floating around. Picked it up just to play around with!

Yep it's definitely opencompute, and in theory from what I read should have open software as well. When you fire it up can you get some power usage figures ?

I've started going down a deep hole with this. Facebook uses them for their core and I'm just trying to figure out some basic management.

few questions:
  • what software is it running?
  • how much did you get it for?
  • any idea what those facebook specific ports on the back do?
looks pretty cool though!
