Mobile interface submitted the post a little early and I can't change the title anymore.

I bought a pair of these 2630L's from a seller in Toronto (laptoprecycle.ca) a week or so ago (in person). Oddly the ID for this auction is different but also from the Toronto area (Mississauga). I bought 2 for $180 CAD + Tax each so if they are the same folks, you might be able to score these for $150USD or so. They mentioned they had a few hundred when I bought mine that they all sold off so I didn't bother posting at the time. Might be a good source of these things somewhere in the area.

Original auction: Intel Xeon E5 2630L 2 GHz Six Core Processor SR0KM | eBay

They've still got 10 packs for $1600 USD.

I like to see low $$ the seller would take for the CPU, $160 per E5-2630L is tempting.
Hopefully , the 10% Ebay bucks promotion comes back before all the CPU are gone.

I am still thinking about the Intel 4 nodes, may be this cheap CPUs would push me over getting more Intel servers.

Just for fun,
I looked back my Ebay purchase transaction from 2014, I had paid $50 each for the E5-2630L.
a E5-2630L in a single SuperMicro CPUboard with 1 SSD Window Server 2012r2 idle around 35-40w

Last year 2014 was a bonanza for E5-26xx and E5-24xx CPU.
Late 2014, one listing had around 10-12 x E5-2609 for $89 each. It was soldout in less than 30min.

If the 2609 sold out in 30 mins at $90, how fast did the 2630l's for $50 sell out? Seems almost unreal. I no longer feel like I got a good deal. :(

This is the universally perpetual feeling regarding all computer hardware.
I have to repeatedly tell myself this, as well as "if you don't need it TODAY" you can get it 2x cheaper in 6 months, or something better for the same price...

LOL!

Except in this case the sentiment is: if only I started looking a year ago I could've bought it for a quarter the price. It's like hard drive and ram prices all over again.

The used IT equipment market is very supply/demand sensitive. From time to time very large data centers (FB, ebay, others) do tech refresh and flood the market. When they do prices crater and deal abound. Witness the dirt cheap C6100s or the ridiculous prices reported here on E5-2630Ls. You've got to watch the ebbs and flows carefully to catch the 'deals'.

$160 each or $166 each for 1-2. :)

Lower power than the E5-2620 I'm replacing :) figured why not. Will run a pair and test.

Arg! I got in at 170 each for my pair after he turned down my first two bids. He okayed my waiting till the 3rd so I can use my $140 in eBay bucks though so that's cool.
