Hi,

I recently purchased a used Asus Z10PA-D8 with 2x E5 2630 v3's. Additionally I bought 4x 32GB DDR4 @ 2133Mhz. The memory is on the supported list so I'm not worried about that. I'm more and more concerned I made the wrong decision to buy the 2x E5 2630 v3's. I already knew that E5 2650 v3's support DDR4 2133Mhz >> Link: Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2650 v3 (25M Cache, 2.30 GHz) Product Specifications. But while reading through other posts here in the forum, I read that the E5 2630 v3's only support DDR4 rated at 1600/1866MHz. I couldn't believe it and had to check Intel's specs >> Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2630 v3 (20M Cache, 2.40 GHz) Product Specifications. Well, bummer.

Questions now are:
  1. Are these CPU's degrading the DDR4 RAM 2133Mhz to 1866Mhz?
  2. Is it worth to give the E5 2630 v3's back and get the E5 2630 v3's to get full 2133MHz support?
  3. I have E5 2673 v3's on hand but can't find any official Intel specs source for them nor is this specific cpu on the supported list for this mainboard? Is this 2673 v3 an ES or do you know anything else about this CPU?
Any thoughts are much appreciated. Thank you.

Mike

1. Yes, this is normal and in any given microarchitecture, different SKUs will support various memory speeds. This occurs even on current desktop CPUs (2666mhz on i5 and up and 2400 on i3 and below).
2. Depends if the extra cost/TDP matters to you?
3. You won't find many details on this CPU as it was a SKU developed specifically for Microsoft for use in their Azure platform. Most motherboards should support it without any issues as there's nothing unique about it.

Great, thank you.
