i believe 8643 for "internal" connectors. The 8644 is more often used for external connectors, and seeing it is a -8i, I think 8643, at least on your host/controller end - no idea what your other end is.
thanks - 2x 8643 to 4 sata for the moment. Going to break down and order a sc846 enclosure rsn. If not for the price of the shipping I'd probably have 2 stacked up in the corner already. I see Mr. Rackable jacked up their price $40 on flea-bay.
maybe call them directly and see if they will still honor the previous price ordered over the phone? that, or wait until they drop the price again.
