I have a dozen WD101KRYZ WD Gold 10TB left over from an upgrade that I want to put in a 2012 DS3612xs rackmount Synology NAS that doesn't support Power Disable.
I've looked at all the WD datasheets etc. and none of them document which models support Power Disable. There is one WD white paper on the feature but for some bizarre reason it only lists Ultrastar part numbers, not WD Gold. The Ultrastar equivalent of the WD101KRYZ is the DC HC510, and per the WD paper, they changed the HC510 to support power disable halfway through its run without changing the model #, only the internal part #.
I wish I could just test one, but the destination NAS is currently full.
