Hi All

i have 3 systems that are pretty much identical, but 2 systems are giving me these errors in event viewer, the latter pretty much constantly.

-The description for Event ID 44801 from source Lsi_sas3 cannot be found.
-The IO operation at logical block address 0x0 for Disk 4 (PDO name: \Device\000000c3) was retried.

The drives plug in to a LSI-9300-8e using fan out cables.
512byte drives work no issue, 520 byte doesnt.

i have tried multiple drivers and fw's im not sure what else i cant do.

What i cant work out is why one system is ok and the others are not.
Any ideas?

this seems to happen on any disk im running.
i had 8x 8tb generic seagate drives running a test script, it created 50000 events in a few minutes, so many that the system wouldnt do anything until i stopped the test.

does anyone know any major differances between windows10 and server2016 with how it managed disks.

Using a 9300-8e in windows10 the disks go ape shit like i said above. install mccafee and they work fine.
But server2016 seems to handle them no problem.

check which driver your system is using on 2016 v win10, also what are the temps on the controller.
Next thing is disk firmware.

i have tried many drivers amd firmware.
originally the temps were an issue but i have fans on the cards so thet average 40-45
disks, i have tested thousands and get this issue. i only just noticed the issue after installing a new system and forgetting to install AV.
After installing AV i still get the errors but only limited amount. if it was only 1 system fair enough but i have like 8 systems testing 8 drives each doing the same thing.

the AV part is what curious - as if you had a virus in firmware somewhere. This is not normal.
