oh, and feel free to include the link to the listing for $65 bucks as well when you make your thread.

Cool beans!
Has anyone flashed these to LSI firmware? Was looking at a Dell LSI 9300-8i, but research shows it is not flashable from the DELL IR mode to LSI IT Mode, wondering if this is similar, perhaps why they are getting cheaper perhaps?
for 65 it is worth a try..

Yeah, I grabbed one from eBay and as soon as it comes I will try to flash it to IT firmware. The controller is for all intents and purposes a 9206 16e, so it should work the same. Will update ya when I get the card.
Thank YOU

Got the card and it's NIB with both the brackets. FYI the full size bracket is stuck in the air cushion pkg.
Sas2flash reports 2 controllers with d1 stepping. Flashed them both to P20. No issues.

Yup, same here. Card works great. I plan to buy more of 'em when I get a chance too.
Card is a sas 2308 (third gen controller?) though, Pcie 3.0 x8. Works and shows up in sas2flsh with no problems.

Again, Great find nthu9280!
Not sure if they align gen based on PCIe or the SAS chip.... SAS3008 cards need the sas3flash.

I don't have a external enclosure and not planning on getting one any time soon. So this and the 9201-16e that posted couple of weeks ago should be enough for me for quite a long time.

Wish OEM XS stocked sff-8088 & sff-8644 cable variations. They have quite a good collection of internal variants at different lengths if you need any, search "Axxcbl" and $10 +s&h will get you a set of 2 new cables. So I always end up buying lot more than I need from them to optimize shipping costs. I think that is their stratergy. :)

I am going to necro this post, I grabbed one, flashed it to P20, and threw the 07.39.02.00 bios on for preboot so I can take a look at the config. My NV data is 14.01.00.06. Having an issue though with not being able to get drives to detect on this. Purchased SFF-8466 to SFF-8088 from China, but cannot get the little bugger to detect any connections to my JBODs.

SFF-8466->SFF-8088->SFF-8088 Female (External of PCI Bracket)->SFF-8087 Female (Internal of PCI Bracket)->SAS Expander->Drives

Have 2 JBODs, one SAS expander is the beloved HP 487738-001 the other Supermicro SAS2-216EL1

Bit of a lost here, don't know if I got a bunk HBA or bad cables -.-

The firmware did not flash right, after prepping a bootable dos USB drive, and clearing the firmware, loaded P16 on it, detected all drivers. I have not attempted P20 due to all the problems I have discovered people having issues with that firmware.

Quick question for you guys regarding this card. I was able to crossflash this card to IT mode with P20 firmware but only two out of the four ports are working when I connect them to the external SAS ports of the JBOD. I've ruled out cable type and port functionality on the JBOD as they work with the first two ports of the HBA. Is this intentional or I just happen to get a bad batch? Under storage controllers in the Device Manager I see two "LSI Adapter, SAS2 2308 Mustang"

did you make certain to flash both controllers on the card? from a quick look at the specs again, seems like the card has 2 x lsi 2308 controllers onboard.

Something like:

sas2flsh -o -fwall 9206itfw.bin -biosall mptsas2.rom (substitute the 9206itfw.bin for the it firmware download file)

This will flash both controllers with the latest firmware.
Yes, I did see the two controllers on the single card and I went ahead and flash both by using "-c index#" -f 9206-16eIT.bin -b mptsas2.rom

Then verified it by going back in and checking the versions with sas2flsh.exe -listall

Thank you for pointing that out in case I might have missed it =)

Sleyk, in your device manager, if you are using windows do you see 4 instances of "LSI Adapter, SAS2 2308 Mustang"?
