I'm having trouble finding a clear answer on this one. I can see 2 hdd bays at the bottom, maybe one in the 5.25" bay, but all the videos I watch have special brackets/cables that I can't find part numbers for.

I would like 3 20tb hdd's so I can use windows storage spaces parity array. My initial idea was 4 using an external usb c 10gb enclosure and a usb c pcie card, but I think i would prefer them internally.

It's been a while since I've done this sort of thing, so I'm looking for feedback. Right now i have an md1000 with 14x4tb hdd's in 2 7disk windows storage spaces parity arrays that have been running for 8 years, and I feel like it's time for an upgrade.

I'm using this frame to place both Hdd and SSD into 5.25 bay. The cables you want depends on the controller you're using. It may be a couple of 7W5N8 or T3F4V in case of SAS or none in case of SATA drives.

Thanks.

No controllers, just hte onboard sata. It has 0-3 for hdd and 0-1 for optical. I'm curious what is different about optical than hdd. Speed?

Nothing really differs in T5810 and later. Intel C612 PCH has two 4-channel 6Gb/s SATA controllers: main (SATA AHCI) and secondary (sSATA AHCI), and only 6 ports out of 8 are available in T5810. It doesn't really matter which port you are using: ODD or HDD one.

There is a metal cage that can be attached inside of the normal optical drive housing, PN 88PWP, and it can hold 2x2.5" drives. So you can populate the bottom drives with 2x3.5", the optical drive bay with 2x2.5" drives, and of course you can add NVMe storage with PCI-E riser boards.

You can always look at a T7910.
They have provision for an additional 4 x SSD behind the front fascia.
