Hi

I'd like to use a Dell H830 in a home server. Are the H830 cards locked to Dell motherboards like the H810 cards?

If so, will covering/cutting pins 5 & 6 resolve this?

Thanks

Phil

A friend of mine uses a H810 in a desktop just fine. I think he did the tape mod.

Anyone who succesfully used a Dell H830 or H730 in a home server already? (I use H810 now which works fine, but need another one and would like to get a H830 if that works too)
Will H730/H830 also support spindown?
Thanks alot!

Used one in a Dell desktop. Also used one in a Lenovo RS140 which is currently my main store server at home.

Gotcha, it does have the 2 GB of NV though... I have it installed, seems to be working fairly okay, I think it is weird that Dell licensed FastPath but not CacheCade.
