I need to build a temp storage server for a SAN migration and wanted to use some existing parts.

My C6100 boots and installs freenas from a usb. Problem is it wont recognize my LSI -SAS9207-8e at the BIOS. Its installed in the PCI-E x16 riser slot..

I want to use this card since it can drive an external cage via SFF -8088 connectors.

The card does not display anything during the BIOS boot sequence. I've played with the obvious BIOS settings. But not getting anywhere.

Anyone know if for some reasons the C6100 wont recognize it?

Found it. Bad card.

I know both were working last time. My guess is:

The CPU on the C6100 comes out and overlaps with the 9207 card about 1/4 inch. After the first time it did not work, i re-seated the card and put some electrical tape round the end of it.. My guess is that I did not do that soon enough.. When i put in second card i did it before power was on.

Aha, Live and learn.

Old news, fixed for a long time. But a lot of people have apparently been scared away from P20 permanently. The P20 firmware was re-built twice. 20.00.00.00 introduced the problem, 20.00.02.00 fixed some of the cases and 20.00.04.00 fixed the rest. The latest build has been available since May, 2015.
