Hi
I plan to put a setup of 4 sas u2 in a m.itx chassis and i got a selection of 3 unit:
Kioxia CD6 (gen4) or Samsung PM1733 (gen4) or Samsung PM983 (gen3)

As gen4 nvme do have higher sustained write speed, i hope i will be able to get a proper 3gbps of write or even saturate the gen3 port. The PM983 could be interesting as it's low power.. but it only give about same as a 10gbps usb port... As i would like to copy 7tb file at full 3.5gbps speed to the drive.. If my asumption is correct ??

Also as i haven't find any temperature review or so.. is any have some experience about the power and temperature that thoses drives will give ? And recommand one ?

Thanks in advance

i read Intel do keep temp quite lower.. But the Pm983 is only eating about 1.2 amp vs other. Will they throttle limit if just in pc case .. without extra high speed fan on them ?

they get real hot, read up on the idle power figures. anything >2W will more or less require active cooling. if they start thermally throttling while at idle, you're gonna have a bad time (and potentially some fried drives)

Have two PM983 3.84 in a Silverstone DS380 mounted at the inner 4x2.5“ cage (so almost no airflow) and they did not throttle even during this summer…. Iddle around 40 degrees Celsius, load 55…63 degrees C.

u.2 NEEDS airflow / fans, but they dont need that much unless loaded heavy. but if you just let them sit still with 0 they cook.
