Small 8-12 port switch

10g = 50w
1g = 5w

10 times the speed but 10 times the power budget.
Granted the 10 has more layer3 functions I guess but the difference in a real home environment is huge, pulls more than some of the 10g servers that would be connected to it.

I always wondered why switches are such power hogs. (And I don't mean like the C6500 series used in a do type environment, that's a whole other world of power per port discussion)
