Need help choosing the CPU that'll get my data off a zVol which had DeDuplication enabled for about 2 years until someone realized what the F I was doing wrong and mentioned the word. But ... as great as that is for NEW content ..? Even reading the content that was saved with that setting is painful.

Data READ with DEDUPE DISABLED ... BUT ... was WRITTEN WITH DEDUPE ENABLED
still reads at a whopping ~1 - 2MB/s
... and I'd rather NOT transfer 30TB at 2MB/s.

To my understanding, the bottleneck is my (absolute piece of crap) CPU
...which I didn't realize until today has no turbo nor HT... lol. Just a whole 1.8GHz QC. :)

Thus, the CPU-centric emphasis and HOPES that ... ONE of the CPU options below will be pretty fast (for the intended purpose)...
I'm hoping that replacing the crappy 1.8GHz CPU these T320s I have came with ... will work -- bc I'd rather not buy a new computer.

WHICH CPU DO YOU GUYS 'VOTE' AS ALLOWING THE DATA WRITTEN WITH DEDUPE ... to be READ THE FASTEST ..?
  • Option 1: MacPro5,1 (rEFInd) - Dual Xeon 6c (12c total) @ 3.33GHz X5680 (plus turbo).
  • Option 2: Upgrade Dell T320 (CPUs on HCL listed below from current E5-2403v2 | 1.8GHz QC ).
  • Option 2: i7-9800X - NON ECC (purchased for the 42 PCIe lanes).
(and are these reasonable options ..? Or are these just pissing in the wind..?)

CPU series list -- that are compatible (on the HCL) for DELL T320:

Compatible SeriesFastest OptionBase / Turbo Cores | L3 CachePCIe Lanes All Support ECCIntel Link
CURRENT POS CPUE5-2403 v21.8 GHz - N/A 4 ( 4 ) 10 MB 24x 3.0 3× DDR3-1600

(Did my best to make this all cleanly laid out -- though, I'm assuming whoever answers already knows all the differences between these CPUs and won't need the URL's, etc. Thanks again!)
