Remove the SATA disk and insert a USB flash drive of 16GB into the USB port behind it.
Using the method previously described, I was able to format it and use it without the eUSB connector.

The best (and low cost) method is to solder an usb header like this one (https://www.digikey.co.uk/en/products/detail/molex/0702461003/3264126) the motherboard, the corresponding modules (Buy USB DOM Industrial Grade (Disk on Module) | Flexxon) are cheaper (20€ for 16gb)



or even an usb header to usb port adapter.



For information :
The original connector on the eUSB viking module is named DF9-9S-1V-32.
The original connector on the motherboard is named DF9-9P-1V-32.

Hi,
I just got a UCS 6248.
I bought it of ebay in a rush and didn't check if it would work as a "normal" switch.
I would like to convert it using your technique.

I don't have a Cisco account to download the files.
Could you send them to me ?

Note : Mine does show as "bootflash" and seems to have a SATA flash drive.
And boot of a N5000 Bios ( N5000 BIOS v.3.6.0, Wed 05/09/2012, 03:15 PM ).

Sharing the log and a photo in case it could help.
