Hi all,

I have a motherboard where the BMC_LED1 LED is lit, but is very dim. Certainly not blinking like normal. Has anyone ever seen this issue?

I have tried:
  • 3x PSU/ chassis combinations
  • 3x complete DIMM sets
  • Cleared CMOS, ME and etc via jumpers and pulled the battery.
Any other thoughts of what it might be?

I assume since you say "a motherboard" that you're not yet allowed to tell us which motherboard?

The IPMI / BMC should start up as long as you have +3.3V standby power. It shouldn't care about memory, or even if there are CPUs installed.

I'd check for a BMC enable jumper somewhere on the board (if it is labeled or if you have the manual). Otherwise I'd expect that the BMC is hung for some reason - either a bad flash or a hardware problem - and you'll need the board manufacturer's help to get it sorted out.
