Is there a benefit in running a full Monero node over and above contributing to the resilience of the network? Is this also just for the learning and the LOLs?

To help with the network and let me learn the to use the cli wallet. Also I might try to solomine to see how that works.

I solo mined XMR once in the beginning of the year.

In less than 3 hours, got lucky , mined 1 block ( 8.5xmr). Trade with Patrick for couple of AMD video cards.
On hand , it is the most expensive video cards in today's XMR price.
On the other side , it was the cheapest AMD video ever.
