As far as I know all those mellanox cards are 56gig infiband and 40gig eth. I don't think you can get 56Gig eth out of one.Try to force 56Gbe speed on the card and the switch and see if it is working.
With some DACs and optical transceivers auto-negotiation doesn't work at 56Gbe.

change mode in WebUI and cli command , not in guideIt has been a while since I did my conversion. I am now in need of running eth mode but find my switch does not have VPI mode as several others posted here. For those of you have VPI enabled, how did you do it? I went back to the guide but could not find anything related. TIA!

Sorry, I don't get it? I did change the port type of port 3 to ethernet mode, which the screenshot showed? And here is what I had for port typeaccording your picture , you still in vpi mode, you need read the manual change part 3 into eth mode use clip command, or change cable

I have static ip set. but the link is down so there is no way to ping.Do you have a DHCP server or configured static IP's.
If so can you ping the server?
