Guys trying to spec a couple of servers for us, and I'm looking at the the new Atoms. But I can't seem to tell if they would be enough power for what we do.
Server 1:
4 users which might go to 10 (file serving) and maybe quickbooks for the accounting person.
300GB of data storage (autocad files and the like)
Server Essentials 2012 with DFSr (Local DC)
(I'm thinking of a pair of 128 GB samsungs for OS and 4x500GB 7200rpm for data)
Server 2:
1-2 users file serving and local DC with the occasional remote session.
Server Foundation 2012 DFSr
(This would have 128 GB SSD for OS and 2x1TB 7200rpm for data)
Our DFS operates over Cisco VPN hardware so the servers would not the tunnels.
Would the C2550 chip be enough for something like this, do we need to max out the ram? Would it give us any room to grow?
We don't need a lot of horsepower for what we do, but it's a toss up between the atoms and e3 series.
Thanks,
Ken
