Trying to build a new PC since mine is 10 years old.
Anyone has experience with Asus PRIME Z790-P WIFI? This is the only board I found that has 4*x16 slots at 16/4/4/4 besides Supermicro, but I usually only use SM for servers.

Not a big fan of Asus, haven't used their boards for 7+ years.

Both AMD and Intel added 4 more PCIe lanes but it is used by by even more onboard components like extra M.2 slots and 10Gb LAN. The typical gaming boards (Prime is targeted towards gamers on a budget) just have to have a slot for the GPU. Anything extra is assumed to be connected via USB or Thunderbolt. Old motherboards from 10 years back had more PCIe slots but the boards didn't come with M.2 slots back then which helped a lot. Also there was more boards with the PCIe switch chip even if more expensive it is still cheaper than going HEDT. The anemic slot count has been an issue for quite a while now.
