I've been having poor i/o performance problems with my c6100 and samsung 840 pro ssd, first with the 1068e mezzanine card, and now with the mezzanine sas2008, see this thread . I want to try cross flashing the sas2008 to the stock lsi 9211 firmware. Has anyone tried following these instructions on the c6100 with the sas2008 mez card? http://www.servethehome.com/ibm-serveraid-m1015-part-4/

Does it work?

Also is it possible to cross flash the 1068e to stock lsi, I can't find nearly as much info about it as sas2008 based cards.

I flashed my 1068e to the 1.33 firmware I found here

I thought it would improve my SAS drive performance, but it seems that it's actually a drive issue rather than a controller issue.

I got a bunch of dell branded ST31000640SS's for free but they're very iffy. Sometimes they work normally and write at 100MBps other times they're capped at 24MBps. I haven't figured out why.

I got a few of the drives a firmware update, some of them won't update (who knows why) but the firmware upgrade didn't really do any good.

I've been trying to get a hold of the stock seagate firmware for these drives to try to cross flash, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I've been trying just to do just that - flash the Dell XX2X2 LSI SAS 2008 based boards to 9211 IT mode. I can't get it to work properly. The re-flashing (even BIOS ROM) seems to go smoothly. The BIOS ROM loads and I can see the drives no problem. One strange thing is the port numbering, I'm left with SAS ports 0,1,2,3 and 6, 7 (i.e. no 4 and 5).

However, NexentaStor just won't install properly. I get a lot of "failed" drive lights flashing on my C6100 box. Sometimes install works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I get PCI errors, and sometimes everything seems to work just fine. I've tried 2 different DELL cards, same results.

I'd be really happy to hear any tips. I followed the procedure given by Cabuzzi in this thread:

Crossflashing Dell PERC H200 to LSI 9211-8i

EDIT:
Should have mentioned I'm using P19, not P20, of the LSI SAS 2008 firmware because of this bug report:

!SOLVED! - Lots of trouble with LSI 9207-8e HBA... | Nexenta Community

I'm wondering if the operating system is loading the wrong drivers.

I am looking at flashing a intel Intel AXXRMS2AF040 or Intel AXXRMS2AF080 mezz card with lsi 9212 firmware to convert it from raid to IT... I guess if I try this I will stick with 19 until the issues are resolved...

anyone know what the flash sequence would look like?
