Any low power systems that supports ecc?

hello people
i am trying to build a simple server that will host my ZRAID array and act as NAS.
i care about data integrity so i am trying to go with ECC memory.
but i could not able to find a motherboard/cpu that is : not expensive, has ecc support and idles under 15w.

It's not new or particularly fast, but the Supermicro X9SPV might be found for a reasonable price, I'm pretty sure it will idle under 15W, though I've never checked mine. You just get a single PCIe slot, but it is at least x16 and it does support bifurcation, so with some sort of riser/adapter you could get two x8 cards working (just select them carefully to ensure ASPM will work to keep idle power low.)

There are several Atoms that support ECC, but quite a few of them are possibly affected by the AVR54 bug so it's a little risky buying them, plus they're generally pretty limited on IO and expansion, and if they include IPMI then that uses about half of your desired idle power on its own, doesn't leave much for the rest of the components.

Agreed, ATOMs work good this... you can find them with the AVR "fix" on ebay too, and they're pretty cheap now... but with ECC RAM assuming more than 1 DIMM power may be getting higher.

E3-1220LV2 idle ~17-20w -- these are super cheap and great little nas box if you can deal with matx or larger.

Crucial questions missing: Budget? How many SATA ports? Or SAS ports? Max format of mainboard (miniITX, uATX, E-ATX etc.)? Tinker factor?

To start somewhat cheap, you could look for some older office mini-tower system with a 4650G (aka Ryzen 5 Pro) on an Asus Prime B550M. This will support unregistered ECC memory. Will idle under 20 watts with no devices connected.
