AMD EPYC 7551 32-C 2GHz 180W LGA4094 SP3 CPU PS7551BDVIHAF - Grade A *Unlocked | eBay

Offer accepted at $68

Not bad price for a 32 cores cpu though i've seen it go as low as $55 before. This is the same multicore performance as a i7-13700K!

It's slightly slower than dual 2690 v4 which is way cheaper and have better performance/$ right now. But here's the things: you can't put in another dual 2690 v4 in a 2 cpu MB. But you can expand to dual 7551!

Aren't these 1st gen EPYC? I believe their performance is below broadwell? SkyLakes are most likely better choice. IIUC, 3rd gen EPYC where there is a major performance bump.

They also lack official Windows 11 support. Not sure how important that really is for some people but for product testing on my end, it's a must. Bypassing the checks may not work in the near future either.

Not below broadwell. As I stated, one 7551 cpu is just slightly slower than two 2690 v4 . You can use two 7551 cpu which would be significantly faster than even dual 2699 v4 which is the zenith of 2011 v3.

Single thread -16.5% against 2690v4. Multithread is about equal for 1v1. With 2x, yeah you're at a 2x advantage.

AMD single thread performance has been below intel for a while until fairly recently. But AMD multithread performance/$ has been significantly more than intel for a while now. My point being that with broadwell, you are pretty much limited to dual 2699 v4 as the max performance for the 2011-3. And dual 2699 v4 will run you almost $300 right now for the two intel cpu.

Meanwhile, two 7551 cpu will be faster than dual 2699v4 and you can still go even higher with the amd.

Wow, $50 for a 1u dual socket EPYC 2/3 server? How many PCI-E lanes? That's crazy low price unless you are talking about blades.

Not blades but about same amount of pci-e slots, nodes for 2U4N systems.

They are also starting to go a bit up now i see, frequently they used to be at 50-100$ for the nodes and 100-200$ for the chassis.
Looks like just open box stuff the ones ive gotten.
