Well, let's hope that they are not as expensive as those freaking D1541s, or that they are as power-sipping. Waited for almost 3 years for the prices to come down or for a more viable competitor to emerge. I think my wallet is ready for the damages.I know... Easier to find Santa's workshop than an EPYC 3000 series board.
Rumor has it system will be available next month.
We tend to get these types of products efore they are launched.
Trying to figure out if this is going live tomorrow or Monday (against VMworld day 1), or wait until Wednesday of next week.
TLDR usually loses to EPYC 7251 by a bit. Blows the D-1541 away.
It will be interesting to see if they just spec it like the Ryzen in an embedded form or if the extra GMI Serial Transceivers normally used for Infinity Fabric can be used for PCIe. From Epyc, we know the PCIe can be used for IF. That could allow for 16x more lanes of PCIe than Ryzen. 32x PCIe3 would be a good match for the Atom D-15xx.Hopefully the boards offer more pcie than the xeon-d ..
Socket AM4 being subdimensioned for 24 PCIe Lanes instead of Zen full 32 is one of the reasons why I find the embedded single die EPYC far more interesing. I lost track of how many times I ranted about that! Same with official ECC support. Is also more than probable that Motherboards for these have a BMC.It will be interesting to see if they just spec it like the Ryzen in an embedded form or if the extra GMI Serial Transceivers normally used for Infinity Fabric can be used for PCIe. Edit: Actually, NVM, EPYC Embedded - AMD - WikiChip That says 32PCIe.
I told a few folks this morning. I actually pulled the review and slotted the Lenovo piece today. ETA is now next week. I was looking over some data and am re-testing. Also, we may get a bit more data next week. Today would have had to have been a preview rather than a formal benchmarking piece.Hi
Today is the day?
