Hey all,

I'm hoping to add a VM with Pfsense to my proxmox server.

I was successfull, but I have to use a USB NIC with a realtek chip for my WAN port and it is absolutely horrible in terms of stability.

Anyone any other suggestions? Intel and Broadcom only seem to make PCIE NIC's...

Thx for any suggestions!
K.

I bought one of these:-

It works well so far, but I had to use a SATA SSD to free up the m.2 slot (and I had to take this ssd out of its shell, and remove the drive bay, to make room for the 2cm tall connector protruding from the m.2 board).

Seems to be the same chipset the cheap 2.5Gbe topton boxes are using, so you can rubberneck the topton threads to see how it'll perform.

My main pfSense is still running virtualized on a nuc with a single nic (a router-on-a-stick style vlan setup). Works great, can recommend.
My internet is 900/500 Mbps. Theoretically I'll see a slowdown if I try to saturate the connection in both directions, but this never happens in real life.

Currently checking on the same problem. Which connector / adapter did you use? I want to use an Intel i350 for pfsense. I will change the original case to a servercase ofc.
