9460-16i for 24 drives

It doesn't seems the latest Broadcom / LSI 9400 controller have more than 16 internal connections (unlike the 9361-24i which has 24 ports built-in). If I have to hook up 24 devices, so I'll need a sas expander I assume? but which one would work in this case? I can definitely buy the 9361-24i, but given that the 9460-16i is newer and there is not much difference in price, I'd prefer the 9460-16i.
