So now that I have my Intel 750 issues solved...I need to figure out the proper settings for using my 9265 with a single drive. I'm out of Intel SATA 6 ports on my motherboard. I have two option...use the 9265 with a single drive or use the Marvell controller on my board that gives me additional SATA 6 ports. I would prefer the 9265 as it is supported natively by ESXi. The Marvell is not. And eventually I want to run this drive as a datastore.

So I have the drive connected. The problem is that write performance is crap. I have the exact same drive connected to an Intel port and its great. So I'm assuming I just don't know how to properly configure this drive on the 9265. So what are the proper settings for a single drive RAID 0 SSD on a 9265???

I know this is probably not the answer you're looking for, but have you looked at getting an HBA instead ??

I'm fine with that as a last resort, but I guess I feel like I shouldn't have to do that? Can you really not set up a 9265 to have decent performance in a single drive configuration? In the meantime...I'll start pricing 9211's.

9210-8i purchased...so we'll see how it performs on that controller with the IT firmware.
