As far as I can tell both the ones from CDW and Provantage are new. Both places have the 2.5" U.2 drives.

This drive really rocks as a VM datastore. I picked one up used through STH last year for $650 which was a decent deal back then so this looks to be a great deal. Too bad I already have one!

    Nice find.

    Two questions:
    1. Any recommendations for a U.2 SFF-8639 PCIe adapter? I see a bunch out there. (Not that it is relevant but this will be going in a Supermicro X9)
    2. This drive + adapter should have the same performance as the AIC model, right?

    Thanks in advance.

I have no recommendations on a U.2 adapter.
Performance should be similar to the AIC as both are running over the PCIe x4 interface.
