I haven't used Micron drives, too. I found Micron has a managing software called "Storage Executive Software" GUI and it can update the firmware. It has linux and windows version. Another CLI software has linux, windows and ESXi version.

FWIW, it's both possible for prices to increase or decrease.

Strange how many times the prices have changed on these: $108, 104, 98, 94, 79.75 and 89.88. There have also been reader's special price and limit to 10 in between

960GB (pro) are down to an all-time low of $77.76 while the 3.84 TB (eco) version is also down to an all-time low of $347.70.

My guess is that these prices will continue downward until all the stock is gone.

I bought 1 of those 4TB Micron ECOs from them to get me to 4 (purchased the first 3 a month earlier from Ebay) so I can either run 4 in a raid 5 set to run VMs off of (backup to Synology NAS on weekly basis), or use them for a vSAN setup. I first put it in my Windows desktop and the Micron software showed it to have the latest firmware and basically 0 hours usage and 100% health on it.

Got the drives delivered (5100 Pro) and they are brand new.
100% lifetime 0 Hours in the SMART info and latest firmware is already installed.
Shipping was lightning fast, 3 days to EU with DHL.

Initial speed numbers (via USB adapter so YMMV) look good:
