64GB LRDIMM DDR3 ECC ram for $20 or less

I'm running a X9DRi-LNF4+ with 1.5TB ram (24x64GB). It's been stable since I did the upgrade (summer), but I needed to increase the airflow over the ram sticks to keep the temperature in check. So something to consider. You might be better of only populating half of the sticks, to provide more space between them and better cooling, as well as less heat generation.

So i found out something new today after loading up the X9Dri with 1.5TB. Although the board recognized all the ram, it does not want to load the video driver with any amount of ram equal to or above 1TB. This is also what happened on the Asus Z9PE. I am wondering if it's some limitation of the C602 chipset.

Puppet, are you also using an external video card in a PCIe slot or are you using the Aspeed onboard gfx? Any chance you can slide in a Pcie gfx card and also confirm what i am seeing? thanks.

I don't use an external video card, only the onboard Aspeed for the occasional remote management. Unfortunately, I don't have a spare gfx that I could test at the moment.

I wonder if my cisco UCS servers support this? I"m guesisng my nehalem server probably doesn't.

cisco c240 m3 is fairly cheap, that 56$ one even has 128gb ram it looks like.
Not sure how great the m3 webpanel/management is tho.

Supermicro H8SCM(-F) support 32GB ECC REG DIMM, BIOS ver 3.5a, BIOS report that it is LRDIMM.

This is great find! Finding a chassis for these EEATX motherboards is challenging though

EE-ATX is SuperMicro's proprietary format, a slightly wider SSI-EEB. Nearly all their cases will work (825, 826, 836, 846, 847, etc). Fractal Define 7 XL also fits it with full support for all standoffs. Enthoo Pro works but it's a tight fit and not all standoffs are supported.

Friendly reminder: motherboard mounting holes without a matching standoff are ok, though not ideal (you could stick a rubber bumpon). Chassis standoffs without a matching motherboard mounting hole are a definite no-no; that can make memory channels flake out, or worst case short out the board and kill it.

Even Supermicro's EATX boards aren't quite standard. I've drilled extra standoffs in my chassis so that the boards are supported.

That has more to do with the lack of standardisation around the term "E-ATX", which often is used by case manufacturers simply to mean "bigger than ATX". SSI-EEB, on the other hand, means pretty much the same thing everywhere.

The official manufacturer page (HUANANZHI X99-T8 Motherboard-HUANANZHI) lists them as taking 32GB max. I would love to get a boat load of ddr3 but the e5-26XX v2s are getting a bit old for my liking

as far as I know 2011-3 boards having more than 4 ddr3 slots are essentially unobtainable. If you’re going to be limited to 4x64gb=256gb you’re probably better off with a broadwell or epic board having 8x ddr4 slots.

That board is on sale on ebay. I sent seller a msg. However, i suspect that it doesn't use LRDIMM but we shall see.. Maybe i ll get one just to check it out?

For the price of that x99 motherboard I think you could get a v4 Xeon and a supermicro x10 motherboard and 64gb ddr4 dimms. Same amount of memory but better platform and future support for 128gb dimms whenever you feel like upgrading.

ebay seller msg me says it does use lrdimm. So take at with a grain of sand....lol
