I have a 5100 Micron 7.68TB that's a HPE drive - p/n VK007680GWHTD. The firmware on it is HPG0. Is there any benefit to flashing it to stock Micron firmware - if in fact that is even possible?

The date of mfr is 2017, but it looks like the drive has not been used at all

Installed Micron Storage Executive and it claims that the 'Latest Firmware Installed' ...

I just noticed that ESXi has the 5100 with the HPE firmware HPG0 in the compatibility matrix VMware Compatibility Guide - ssd. In fact the drive seems to have far greater IOPs figures with the HP firmware. It would seem the drive I have is a 5100 MAX or PRO instead of a 5100 ECO ...

I got one from an eBay seller for ~$650 - seems great for a sparingly used eTLC/3D-NAND 8TB SSD. I've since ordered two more from the seller, hopefully they arrive fine and I can finally replace my 5 x 4TB Seagate NAS HDDs with 3 of these SSDs :)

Will post pics & update with firmware + performance tests, when they arrive.

Does anyone on the forums have the Micron D0MU414/D0MU814 firmware package? This is for the 5100ECO 3.84TB/7.68TB ...

Did you ever manage to flash them to DOMU814 or even DOMU841? I also have the same model, and am at a loss for easily viewing the SMART data on it. Thanks.

I didn’t because the seller suggested that I could break something and because when I measured the performance - the HP firmware is always 10% - 15% faster than D0MU 841

If I had a smaller disk I’d try. But don’t want to try with a 7.68TB SSD and brick it
