I would like to know / confirm the compatibility of the 50Gbe nic card with qsfp28 optical cable. I haven't seen 50gb cable, but only 100gb to 4x 25g cable. So if plug over a 50g card (MCX4131A a Connectx-4 Lx or CX4431A an ocp one. or mcx4431a ) is the cable will give you 2x 25g working fine and the other 2; no signal ? Or it will fail... On those Mellanox connect-x , i haven't found any intel 50g card.
For sure a Dac electric cable will do work, but what about the aoc cable ? As having a qsfp28 optical cable giving 2 or 4 optical cable can be perfect, then we connect the end of those to existing spf28 over the 25g nic. If there's any qsfp28 multimode sr to 2 or 4 fiber .. sc, lc..
