I saw that. The price of going 3TB v. 4TB is not enough to offset the fact that you end up connecting one more drive per 12TB for the smaller models :-/

I was really agonizing over pulling the trigger on this deal as well, but I think I'm going to wait for the 4TBs to drop a little more. Hopefully the fact that the 3TB models are starting to show up on sale is a signal that there's going to be a general price drop soon.

There is a balance between end capacity required (now and future) and the minimum number spindles required to meet the IOPS and RAID redundancy (plus spares). I would say that a great number of people with the 4 slot NAS devices would be fine with 3TB disks over the life of the Disks/NAS. In fact, I recently bought 5 - 2TB disks (4 plus a spare) as that capacity requirement was just never going to grow past what 2TB disks supplied.
