I bought the above card with the intention of using it in an ESXi 6.5 build, but found that although the LSI 9280-16i4e is still on VMware's compatibility list the 3Ware 9750-16i4e is not (although they certainly appear to be the exact same card...).
To be clear I do not need to get this into IT mode as a want the Raid controller active.
I have looked for a guide to cross-flashing this card but have come up empty.
Does anyone have any links or a guide to performing this flash???

I don't believe the 3ware cards and LSI 9280 is an identical card. I'm not aware of instructions to do this cross flash -- but I would be very surprised if such instructions existed.

Ok, I have some new information... I purchased an LSI 9280-16i4e photos of the two cards are not attached (as the pictures are too big...) and they do appear identical (at least physically).
Any ideas how I should start my quest to cross-flash the 3ware card?

They both use the LSI 2108 chip, but the firmware is different. I'm guessing that if you try to simply try to flash the 9280 firmware, it will fail with some sort of "incompatible product" or "Image doesn't match the system" error.

The LSI SAS 2108 was a RaidOnChip, so you may be able to use Megarec to try to wipe the 9750 first and then flash with the 9280 firmware? Or maybe it will just brick it? I have no idea.

Ok, new stupid question - is there a way to read everything from the 9280 that I have?
Of course I've already pulled the spd and sbr with MegaRec...
My goal is to get a known good Firmware file and Bios file as a place to start with the 9750.
