Wow, $6/TB--solid deal!

More than $10 avail, but 87 sold as of this post. I feel the STH Effect looming...

6TB for 31 USD each is not a deal. The problem with smaller hard drives is energy cost. You're way better off getting a few 14TB hard drives for 100USD.

My spreadsheet says that even for 10 USD each, you will get less value for you money compared to 14TB hard drives for 100 USD.
Especially here in UK. Works out at around £3 per month even at data center electricity prices to run a drive 24/7

Energy costs vary across the world (hi from Ukraine). Not everyone need tons of storage. I have a client who wanted space for video from few surveillance cameras. His requests was two: 1. Video from all cams for at least 3-4 days. 2. Low budget cost for project. I just want to say that everyone needs are different.

Sent an offer for 8 at $31, got accepted.
Wow. I just bought 18x at $33 each from another seller, but they were used (slightly...a few TB written).

Since the info about this line of drives was last updated in 2018, these have to be "old new stock".

Per TB, they are a deal. TCO, ymmv. I have power included at my office so it doesn't matter to me.

130 sold as of this post and still showing 10+ available.

Hmm, it may have been too good to be true. Had a bit of a scare because one of my machines was showing some of them as 0 bytes at first, but I got all eight of them working. However, they all have 45k+ POH. So...kind of got scammed here. I'll update the title and OP.

I've messaged the seller about the issue. The drives came in sealed anti-static bags, the kind you have to cut open. It's entirely possible that the seller also thought they were new as a result, but I'll wait and see what their response is.

An appropriate response would be to cut the price in half and give you a refund as well as any others that reach out with the same poh. Very clean refurbs otherwise that if they're at $3/TB would be still a great deal. :)

Well, this is a new one. Tried to reformat from 512e to 4kn, and now they seem to be reporting as 4224-byte sectors (528 * 8 instead of 512 * 8). Same symptoms as this thread.

Checked the datasheet, seems that there's a separate SKU for 4kn vs 512e. Guess I'll just have to use 512e and remember to set ashift correctly.
